Synopsis

The monograph is dedicated to modern manifestations of Armenian folk lullabies, their genric, compositional, structural and expressive peculiarities. The study was mainly conducted from the point of view of revealing and evaluating ways of life and creative mechanisms in the modern manifestations of Shirak's folk songs. Based on the study of fictional characteristics and features of modern samples of folk lullabies recorded in Shirak, the modern fictional mechanisms of folk creativity were revealed and valued. The material collected and developed as a result of the work will be included in the framework of comparative ethnomusicology and science.

Hasmik Matikyan, Shirak Center for Armenological Studies NAS RA

PhD in Philology, Docent

Researcher at Shirak Center for Armenological Studies NAS RA,

lecturer at the Chair of Foreign Languages and Literature,

Shirak State University

 Was born in Leninakan in 1987.

She is a graduate of Yerevan State University, Faculty of Philology and the American University of Armenia.

In 2019 she earned her PhD in Philology, becoming an associate professor in 2024.

Since 2012 she has been working at Shirak Center for Armenological Studies NAS RA as a scientific researcher. She teaches academic courses at Shirak State University and ASUE GB.

She has delivered reports at international conferences in Armenia, USA, UK, Spain, Italy.

She is the author of the monograph “Let me Sing a Sweet Lullaby” (A Linguistic-Folkloristic Study of the English and Armenian Lullaby Texts), 1 Methodological Manual: Modern Manifestations of Children’s Folklore in the Shirak Region, and about 60 articles, and has co-authored the “Shirak: Armenian Folklore Culture” collection.

Director of Gyumry Branch of Yerevan State Konservatory after Komotas.

Senior scientific researcher in Shirak Center for Armenological Studies NAS RA

She graduated from Komitas State Conservatory in 1987 and earned her PhD in 2005. Harutyunyan has worked at the Kumayri Reserve-Museum in Gyumri and currently serves as the director of the Gyumri Branch of Komitas State Conservatory.

Since 1997, she has also been affiliated with the Shirak Center for Armenian Studies. Currently, she is a musicologist and researcher at the Shirak Center for Armenian Studies of the National Academy of Sciences of RA.

She is the author of a monograph titled “The V-XV Century Music in the Context of Armenian Historiography” (2010) and has published about 60 articles.
